Scotland has a section of its own, covering the Highlands, the Lowlands and Borders, the Hebrides, and Orkney and Shetland, because so much of what we do is based there. Further afield, Europe runs from the painted caves of France and the classical world of Greece and Italy to the Byzantine cities of Turkey and the garden traditions of the Netherlands and Spain. In Africa we travel through Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, and in the Middle East through Jordan and Oman. Destinations: Your Questions Answered

Yes. Our collections gather the tours by what they are about rather than where they go, so you can start from either direction. If you know you want gardens, start with the collection. If you know you want Italy, start with the destination.

It depends on where you’re heading to. Mediterranean archaeology often suits spring and autumn tours, when sites are quieter, and the temperatures are more comfortable. Northern gardens peak from spring into early summer. Egypt, Jordan and Oman are at their best in the cooler months, and some tours travel deliberately out of season to reach major sites without the crowds.

Guide Lecturers and Tour Managers who are specialists in the subject, many of whom research, excavate or work in the places you are visiting. They travel with the group throughout, so the conversation carries on between sites rather than restarting each morning.

Every tour carries an activity level of light, moderate or active, set out before you book, so you can choose one that matches how you like to travel.
