Our Wales tours travel a country whose past sits close to the surface. Anglesey, or Ynys Môn, is separated from the mainland by the narrow Menai Strait and holds significant concentrations of Neolithic burial chambers, Bronze Age standing stones and Iron Age hillforts in a small area. In the south, the parks and gardens of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire include the National Botanic Garden of Wales, the first botanic garden created in the UK in two centuries. And in the north, Snowdonia's mountains and coast sit alongside historic castles and gardens including Plas Brondanw and Maenan Hall.

Gardens and archaeology, principally. The garden tours take in the National Botanic Garden of Wales alongside private and historic gardens, and the archaeology focuses on Anglesey, where prehistoric sites are unusually concentrated.

Spring through early autumn for the gardens, when planting is at its peak and the coast and mountains are at their best. Archaeological sites are accessible for more of the year, though exposed ground is easier going outside winter.
