A continent like no other

Our Africa tours travel a continent where the archaeology is still being revised. In Egypt, excavation is in another golden age, this time led by Egyptians themselves, from the newly dug tombs at Saqqara to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Along the North African coast, Carthage and Rome fought the wars that decided the Mediterranean, and Tunisia and Algeria hold the cities that followed, including probably the best-preserved colonia anywhere in the Empire. Morocco is the Maghreb el-Aqsa, the land of the further west, encircled by three great seas. And further south lie the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and the Northern Cape, where each spring the ground bursts into a carpet of flowers.

Africa Tours: Your Questions Answered

Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco each have tours of their own, and there are itineraries in Algeria, Tanzania and South Africa besides.

Archaeology and ancient history across Egypt and Roman North Africa, medieval and Islamic history in Morocco, gardens, and wildlife and flora further south.

The cooler months from autumn through early spring for North Africa and Egypt, which are uncomfortable for walking sites in high summer. The southern African tours are timed around their own seasons, and Namaqualand flowers only in the southern spring.

Archaeological sites are extensive, open and unshaded, often on uneven ground and in warm conditions. Each itinerary carries an activity level of easy, moderate or active so you know what to expect before you book.
