Discover Scotland at its wildest

Our Highlands tours reach the parts of Scotland that take some getting to, and reward the effort. Kinlochbervie sits on the remote north-west coast, looking out over the fishing harbour, the lochs and the hills, and the North Coast 500 traces the coastline beyond it. Inland, the Caledonian Canal and the Great Glen cut clean across the country from sea to sea, and the Jacobite steam train runs out of Fort William over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Highlands Tours: Your Questions Answered

It depends on the subject. West coast gardens are at their peak in late spring and early summer, wildlife is most active through the lighter months, and the far north-west is at its best in early spring and autumn. Heritage railways run seasonal timetables, so those tours are timed accordingly.

It varies by tour, and each itinerary carries an activity level of easy, moderate or active. Highland gardens and estates involve slopes, gravel and uneven ground, and coastal and wildlife days can mean rougher, more exposed terrain.

Depending on the tour and the season, ospreys and dolphins, ancient pine forest and rarer species including beavers and wildcats. Wild animals are wild, so nothing can be promised, but the itineraries are built around the habitats and seasons that give you the best chance.
